Six Month Smiles is a form of short-term orthodontics. While not a replacement for traditional braces, Six Month Smiles provides a wonderful option for many adults who choose not to have traditional braces.

The Six Month Smiles technique utilizes clear brackets and white wires to gently move front teeth. The unobtrusive brackets and wires won’t impact your mature image.

Are you a candidate?

The ideal Six Month Smiles candidate is an adult who is interested in straightening front teeth quickly. If problems exist with the back teeth as well, then traditional braces may be a better option. Back teeth have multiple roots which require more time and force to move. Front teeth have single roots and can usually be moved easily, quickly, and safely. In a timeframe of 5 to 8 months, we can generally accomplish over 90% of the cosmetic benefit that we desire – meaning a smile with straighter, even teeth!

Prior to the introduction of short-term orthodontics, the only option for adults who wanted to improve their smiles without wearing traditional braces for two years was veneers. While veneers provide a wonderful alternative in the right situation, fixing crooked teeth with veneers is not always the optimal choice. Placing veneers typically requires removal of healthy tooth structure, which is not an attractive option for some patients. If your teeth are attractive, but merely crooked or misaligned, Six Month Smiles is a much healthier option. If your teeth are unattractive and crooked, then combining Six Month Smiles to line up the teeth and placing veneers to improve the appearance of the teeth is a great combination.
